摘要: The educational value of time–domain animations for visualizing acoustic impulse scattering from spheres, and the formation scattered wave fronts, is demonstrated. Anderson’s fluid sphere theory [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 22, 426–431 (1950)] used to demonstrate two cases: (a) a fixed rigid sphere; (b) pressure release sphere. backscattering regime seen be dominated by geometric reflections. In forward scatter region, visualizations both cases show that incident fields combine rapidly minimize amplitude phase perturbations front, leading “wave front healing.” Diffraction into shadow behind and, in case, leads clearly discernible circumferential breaks off backward direction. Animations based upon raypath method depict how this technique represents geometrical reflections, while omitting diffraction effects, but appears reasonable approximation applications. Hickling Wang “movable” 39, 276–279 (1966)] create an animation illustrates “rebound” response motion finite mass action field. discussed are downloadable via World Wide Web.
