摘要: Objectives Although many techniques have been proposed for the repair of tympanic membrane perforations, few address unique challenges presented by anterior marginal perforations. In these circumstances, traditional underlay and overlay are often complicated issues including blunting tympanomeatal angle, graft lateralization, delayed healing, reduced take rates. The "window shade" tympanoplasty technique described in this paper incorporates several aspects to issues. Study design setting A retrospective chart review was conducted at an academic medical center, all patients who underwent window shade from 1994 2016 a single surgeon. Patients total 412 aged 6 76 years old were included study. had undergone concomitant ossicular chain reconstruction excluded hearing outcome portion analysis. Main measures Any observed residual postoperative perforations within first months after surgery considered failure. Complications such as otorrhea, serous otitis media, epithelial pearls, post-auricular infection tabulated. Air-bone gap closure also assessed. Results Postoperative outcomes assessed rate, complication rates, air-bone closure. success rate 94.2%. Overall 4.6%. 82.6% achieved 10 dB. Conclusions results study further reinforce repairing
