摘要: Male rats (Rattus novergicus) infected with protozoan Toxoplasma gondii relinquish their innate aversion to the cat odours. This behavioural change is postulated increase transmission of parasite its definitive felid hosts. Here, we show that infection institutes an epigenetic in DNA methylation arginine vasopressin promoter medial amygdala male rats. Infected animals exhibit hypomethylation promoter, leading greater expression this nonapeptide. The also results activation vasopressinergic neurons after exposure odour. Furthermore, loss fear can be rescued by systemic hypermethylation and recapitulated directed amygdala. These demonstrate proximate mechanism underlying extended phenotype Rattus novergicus-Toxoplasma association.
