摘要: [1] El Nino-Southern Oscillation-related hydroclimatic variability in the western United States is characterized by a north–south dipole pattern of precipitation anomalies with opposing signs. Here I use high-resolution dataset to analyze spatiotemporal patterns transition zone between centers opposite association. Results indicate that spatially limited west continental divide, consisting narrow within 40–42°N latitude band and portions eastern Washington, Oregon, Colorado. The was narrower when Southern Oscillation Index Pacific Decadal (PDO) were constructive phase during negative Atlantic Multidecadal phase. Although has remained remarkably stationary across Great Basin, shifts (likely PDO-related) have occurred over time West Coast states. Implications for water resource planning river basins underlying vary region.
