摘要: Abstract The pathways of cross-equatorial flows originating in the Arabian Sea and Bay Bengal are modelled using a 4.5-layer model Indian Ocean. Passive tracers drifters used to diagnose transports. results show that relatively fresh water is transported southward across equator throughout year east 90°E, but during southwest monsoon as far west 60°E. In western part ocean, northward transport low-salinity takes place narrow region positive relative vorticity Somali Current. Substantial exchange occurs 95°E, primarily from May September. During northeast net small, large variability associated with planetary equatorial waves. circulation emerge clockwise gyre, flow mixed layer interior boundary current region, including well subsurface layers. path or freshwater this circulation.
