摘要: Abstract The purpose was to analyse the relation between masseter electromyograms (EMGs) and relative force during power stroke of mastication. electromyographic activity characterized by recording from bipolar surface electrodes placed over superficial portion muscle; estimated characterizing bone strain along lateral aspect zygomatic arch. subjects were six adult macaques one baboon. Masseter EMGs quantified r.m.s. analysis raw digitized EMG. length time interval (the constant) which values calculated repeatedly altered so as determine constant optimal for producing an EMG-derived waveform that best mimicked near-isometric phase muscle contraction. data indicate this varied 35 72 ms, with overall median 42 ms a grand mean 49 ms. use 42-ms all resulted in average latency EMG about 30 latter This provides, first approximation, empirical basis modelling jaw-muscle using recorded mastication when jaw-closing muscles are contracting under near isometric conditions
