摘要: This paper is on the cavitation erosion (CE) behavior of a thermally annealed duplex stainless steel having triplex microstructure consisting ferrite, austenite and sigma phase. As forms, it siphons off alloying elements from making softer. Ferrite weakest against CE among three phases, its interfaces with phase are often initiation sites damage which tends to grow into ferrite side. The weakness stems high strain-rate sensitivity. Austenite beneficial because helps prevent being dislodged, also more resistant damage. Mechanical properties such as hardness strength do not correlate resistance (as measured by cumulative weight loss incubation time damage). Preliminary results show that monotonically proportional quantity sigma.
