摘要: The effects of doping small amounts TiO2 up to 5 wt% on the sintering behaviour alumina (Al2O3) was studied. Green samples were prepared and pressureless sintered in air at temperatures ranging from 1250°C 1600°C, a furnace ramp rate 10°C/min. soaking time 2 hours. Sintered characterized determine bulk density, hardness Young’s modulus. It has been found that all doped exhibited higher density than undoped samples. increases with increasing temperature attained maximum value 3.9 Mgm−3 for 1.0 1450°C. addition 1 when 1450°C be most beneficial throughout studied range as highest modulus 381 GPa Vickers 16.5 compared 256.7 11.2 alumina. Titanium oxide is one economical way improving densification Al2O3 without affecting mechanical properties.
