摘要: Over the period 1990-2007 energy demand of UK manufacturing has fallen. A decomposition analysis was conducted to identify effects changes in output, structure and intensity on changing demand. It found that a falling (indicating improving efficiency) principle reason for fall As sector is so broad its uses energy, it split into an energy-intensive (EI) non-energy-intensive (NEI) sub-sector better understand improvement efficiency. The NEI made much greater relative reductions comparison EI sub-sector. Previous studies indicate may have larger improvements between 1973 1990 this be limited seen here. Neither price nor production growth appears strongly correlated with efficiency over 1990-2007.
