摘要: Protective effect of melatonin against Cu++ induced peroxidative modification low density lipoprotein (LDL) was studied in vitro. Melatonin used for this purpose because its known scavenging capacity hydroxyl and peroxyl radicals. It demonstrated by the diene formation kinetic analysis that protected polyunsaturated fatty acids LDL lipids peroxidation. Lag time duration prolonged, peak delayed, whereas rate decreased treated LDL; however, parameters related to apolipoprotein (apo-B) showed protein derivatized. Fluorescence, relative electrophoretic mobility, lysine residues data, as well uptake macrophages all properties similar those oxidised LDL. Present data suggest by-products oxidation might react with apo-B, transforming atherogenic form.
