摘要: Abstract This study aims to evaluate the hygroscopicity and thermochemical properties of pine wood/polymer composites prepared by in situ polymerisation methyl methacrylate (MMA) using glycidyl (GMA) methacrylic acid (MAA) as cross-linkers. The wood samples were impregnated a vacuum/pressure system polymerised an oven at 90 °C for 10 h, benzoyl peroxide 1.5 wt.% catalyst. composite was characterised through dynamic wettability, water uptake dimensional stability tests, ATR-IR spectroscopy, TGA, DSC. spectra show increase peaks 1746, 1460, 1145 cm −1 corresponding chemical structures polymers into pores capillaries treated wood. TGA DSC analysis pointed out interaction between copolymer cell wall with GMA MAA. MMA presented improvements 50%. However, addition MAA resulted best increases hydrophobicity samples, ∼65–78%.
