摘要: Abstract The aim of this chapter is to highlight some key aspects recent economic research on the welfare state and antipoverty policy in rich countries explore their implications. We begin with conceptualization measurement poverty before sketching out core features approaches policies. then focus central plank modern state's efforts address poverty—namely, social protection, discussing turn inactive working-age population, child income support, in-work poverty, retirement old-age pensions. After that we discuss spending other than cash transfers, labor market, education, training activation, and, finally, intergenerational transmission, childhood, neighborhoods. also context crisis began 2007–2008 implications for strategies aimed at combining growth employment making serious inroads into poverty. conclude directions future research.
