摘要: This chapter is an update of the review previously published. The focus twofold: first part dealing with theoretical aspects related physics and modeling water isotopes in atmosphere followed by a detailed presentation climatic information that can be extracted from these measured along deep ice cores drilled Greenland Antarctica. Here, author reviews considerable amount research conducted complementary topics over last 10 years. They are based on progress methodologies, thanks to recent technological advances, which have revolutionized this field research: use new tracer measurement 17 O/ 18 O ratio, reconstruction vapor satellite-based remote sensing techniques, infrared laser spectrometers measure vapor. In addition, author's ability describe simulate distribution using atmospheric general circulation models fractionation processes embedded has made progress, while allowed extend eight glacial–interglacial cycles Antarctica back interglacial Greenland.
