摘要: The aim of this study was to determine community application cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills in an emergency, and, thus, assess the value training programmes raising competence. A cross-sectional telephone survey Western Australian population chosen randomly (n = 803). An urban sub-sample 100) performed a practical demonstration CPR using simulated collapse scenario recording manikin as victim. Performance assessed by two observers pre-determined criteria. Of all respondents, 64% had been trained CPR. Practical and theoretical assessment scores were significantly better versus untrained participants. number times person more effective for retention competence than time since last trained. Degree less those aged over 65 years or with heart disease household. Theoretical poorly reflected performance many tasks. This provides comprehensive database performance, highlights future directions ensure appropriate cost-effective training. Specific factors be addressed include increasing frequency training, targeting high-risk groups, simplification teaching, emphasising early activation emergency medical system.
