摘要: Leishmania parasites rely heavily upon membrane transport proteins to deliver essential nutrients from their hosts the interior of parasite. Some these transporters also serve as routes for uptake drugs used treatment leishmaniasis or experimental with potential development novel anti-leishmanial therapies. Hence, mutations within coding regions such permeases alterations in expression carrier can confer drug resistance parasites. This chapter reviews current level knowledge regarding several classes known play roles sensitivity drugs. The increasing “permeome,” provided by complete genome sequences species, has advanced considerably our how and other cytotoxic compounds enter pathogenic protozoa.
