摘要: This study of 52 patients (27 men) with recent (18 months) or chronic (>18 low back and unilateral radicular pain symptoms was undertaken to investigate whether wasting the paraspinal muscle components is generalised selective. During patients' routine computed tomographic lumbar spinal scans a standardised transaxial view obtained along upper end-plate L4 vertebra, cross-sectional areas muscles their components, multifidus erector spinae, estimated. Irrespective were chronic, dimensions significantly greater on side ipsilateral symptoms. The results indicate selective changes in these possibly reflect an adaptive response by this muscle, such as increased role stabilising spine face overall atrophy.
