摘要: Predictive processing is fundamental to many aspects of the human mind, including perception and decision-making. It remains be elucidated, however, in which way predictive information impacts on evaluative processing, particularly tasks that employ bivalent stimulus sets. Various accounts, framing, proactive interference, cognitive control, appear imply contradictory proposals relation between prediction preference formation. To disambiguate whether cues produce congruent biases versus opponent mechanisms we conducted two experiments participants were asked rate individual food images. The image database included appetitive aversive items. In each trial, a cue predicted, with varying degrees reliability, valence impending image. both experiments, found ratings exhibited as function reliability cue, highest evaluations following most reliable positive-valence predictions. Eye prepositioning further showed selective spatial bias suggestive response preparation line times also pattern results consistent preparation, producing slow responses invalid data suggested an active form implementing confirmation aims accommodate prediction.
