摘要: The American Psychiatric Association’s recommendation to delete (remove) Asperger’s disorder as a separate diagnostic category from the fifth edition of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Mental Disorders (DSM-5) has been widely publicized [1-3]. Specifically, DSM-5 Work Group members propose new “autism spectrum disorder”, which subsumes current diagnoses autistic (autism), disorder, childhood disintegrative Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). This reflects members’ conclusion that “a single disorder” better describes our understanding about pathology clinical presentation neurodevelopmental disorders.
