Extra-articular rheumatoid arthritis : prevalence and mortality

摘要: Objective. The prevalence and distribution of extra-articular manifestations rheumatoid arthritis (ExRA) associated mortality were studied retrospectively in a cohort RA patients admitted to University Hospital, Malmo ¨ , Sweden, during the period 1990‐94. Results. Of 489 who fulfilled 1987 ACR criteria for RA, 37 manifested onset ExRA, predominantly serositis cutaneous vasculitis, period, corresponding cumulative incidence 7.9%. occurrence ExRA was independent disease stage. Among with 1 death/4.3 person-years at risk (pyr) occurred, as compared death/11.4 pyr non-ExRA subgroup. age- sex-adjusted rate ratio 2.49 (95% confidence interval 1.43‐4.03). major cause death among cases heart disease, which occurred 9/13 (69%) comparison expected 2.4 cases. Conclusion. In this series, vasculitis predominant RA; greater than subgroup, perhaps due high frequency disease.
