摘要: A previously described procedure for generating approximate valence and Rydberg orbitals from spectral data is extended to continuum states. Formulas photoionization cross sections are derived, reported the lithium sequence ions (Li I Si XII), sodium, helium. The predicted values shown be in good agreement with experimental polarized‐Hartree–Fock values, results generally superior obtained same by quantum defect method.
