摘要: Cetacean interactions with fishing gear are reported regularly and most frequently involve incidental capture. However, limited records exist related to depredation resulting in ingestion. Here, we present cases of from ingestion gill-net parts larynx strangulation documented for the first time a cetacean species. The bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) is only resident species Adriatic Sea, where small-scale commercial private fisheries use gill nets throughout year. A total 120 dead-stranded dolphins found along Croatian coast Sea were examined 1990 March 2008; 12 them (10%) affected by parts. all animals showed at least one following pathological changes: edema, mucosal injury, hypergranulation. In majority cases, it was chronic condition. Larynx strangulations adult appeared more often reduced ability catch free-swimming prey.
