Abdominal tuberculosis: experience with three cases from an Austrian centre

摘要: BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis has remained an important infectious threat in the third world, but is relatively rare industrialized countries. Peritoneal tuberculosis a diagnostic challenge since its clinical presentation and radiological findings may mimic peritoneal carcinosis associated with gynaecological or gastrointestinal cancer. METHODS: Two patients one are presented. RESULTS: Three women unspecific abdominal symptoms were admitted to hospital. In two suspected initial diagnoses based on gastric ovarian cancer spread. The correct made upon laproscopy subsequent histopathological examination. patient presented pain bloody diarrhea six years after renal transplantation intestinal was diagnosed colonoscopy. All three cases successfully managed combination anti-microbial therapy. patient, multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium strain involved. CONCLUSIONS: Abdominal can present signs of Laparoscopy endoscopy tissue biopsies readily establish diagnosis.
