摘要: The oxygen-evolving photosystem II (PS II) complex of red algae contains four extrinsic proteins 12 kDa, 20 33 kDa and cyt c-550, among which the protein is unique in that it not found other organisms. We cloned gene for 20-kDa from a alga Cyanidium caldarium. consists leader sequence can be divided into two parts: one transfer across plastid envelope thylakoid lumen, indicating encoded by nuclear genome. mature has low but significant homology with 17-kDa (PsbQ) PS green Volvox Carteri Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, as well PsbQ higher plants PsbQ-like cyanobacteria. Cross-reconstitution experiments combinations IIs Cy. caldarium Ch. reinhardtii showed was functional place algal on binding to restoration oxygen evolution.
