Thermo-tectonic evolution of the south-central Pyrenees from rifting to orogeny: insights from detrital zircon U/Pb and (U-Th)/He thermochronometry

摘要: Constraining the thermal and denudational evolution of continental margins from extensional episodes to early orogenic stages is critical in objective better understand sediment routing during growth topography. Here, we report 160 detrital zircon U/Pb ages 73 (U-Th)/He Albian, Upper Cretaceous Eocene sandstones south-central Pyrenees. All samples show dominant age peaks at 310-320 Ma, indicating a primary contribution Variscan granites central Pyrenean Axial Zone. A secondary population 450-600 Ma documents grains sourced eastern Zircon recovered older document, Triassic peak ca. 241 corresponding denu- dation coeval with initiation Atlantic rifting. An Early cooling event 133 appears consistent rift-related exhumation overprint on Iberian margin. The 80 68 decreasing depositional are inter- preted reflect southward-migrating thrust-related pro-wedge side orogen. increase lag times, 15 Tremp Formation (ca. 65 Ma) 28 Escanilla 40 Ma), suggests rates 0.4 km Myr-1 0.2 Myr-1. apparent inconsistency convergence used infer that rocks cooled may have resided crust before final surface. Finally, observed provides support inferred acceleration conver- gence, shortening Late times.
