Subspecies recognition in Knot Calidris canutus and occurrence of races in Western Europe

摘要: Based on migrant and winter specimens, 2 separate populations of Knot Calidris canutus are shown to occur in the Netherlands. Both sufficiently differentiated deserve recognition subspecies level. Breeding range, migration routes, areas both these defined. Additional material proves that at least 3 other Holarctic, warranting as subspecies, but breeding grounds not known for all these. Morphometrical characters a map with routes 5 provided.
