摘要: The results of a number studies suggest that stimulus-bound feeding and drinking may be dependent upon the oronasal sensations which normally accompany drinking. Rats bearing electrodes in lateral hypothalamus were given daily threshold tests for their home cages. After thresholds stabilized they subjected to anosmia by suction olfactory bulbs, or partial ageusia bilateral transection lingual, chorda tympani branch glossopharyngeal nerves. None these denervations, either separately combination, had any consistent effect on thresholds. In two rats self-stimulation was also studied found only moderately reduced denervations. implications data are discussed terms current theories mechanisms underlying behaviors.
