Ice-deformation in the flow of glaciers

摘要: Under a project-grant from the Geological Society of America, thin-section studies were made ice glaciers Mt. Rainier. Of greatest interest observations ice-granules along and across “fault-planes” in glaciers. In many cases observed no true fracture or movement on discrete planes seems to have occurred. It appears probable that differential progressed by combination inter- intra-granular adjustments which involved basal slip, distortion crystal lattices, one more types recrystallization.
