摘要: Objective To explore how intimate partner abuse during pregnancy influences women’s decisions about seeking care and disclosing their preferences for health professionals’ responses. Design A qualitative, grounded theory approach using dimensional analysis. Data were collected via 21 interviews. Setting Participants interviewed in homes , at prenatal clinic a hospital the investigator’s office. convenience sample of 12 Englishspeaking women abused pregnancy. Five participants recruited from two clinics Pacific Northwest; 7 snowball sampling . Results The “living lives: experiences pregnancy” emerged investigation. Abused pregnant engaged process guarding revealing public private lives. This affects seek attend care, perceptions providers’ interventions, disclosure. Conclusions Intimate profoundly pregnancies pregnancy-related decisions. Embarrassment, shame, fear are common emotions. Pregnant, want providers to treat them respectfully empathetically, recognize conflict between lives, support decisions, be available help them. They do not expect or fix situation.
