摘要: The objectives of this chapter are to provide an overview the dialyzer structure with emphasis on advances in performance and novel design features. This is followed by in-depth review various biomaterials used for membranes, namely unsubstituted cellulose, substituted or modified cellulose synthetic polymers, a discussion their physical, chemical biological properties. Key features biocompatibility membranes including activation complement system coagulation cascade, platelets leukocytes then discussed. Emphasis given clinical relevance dialysis membrane specific syndromes highlighted hemodialysis-induced hypoxemia, reactions, β 2-microglobulin deposition, protein catabolism, susceptibility infection due immune dysfunction, survival patients kidney failure.
