摘要: [1] Layered phenomena in the mesopause region is subject of an international working group whose main focus concerns physics and chemistry summertime mesosphere processes involved forming polar mesospheric echoes (PMSEs) clouds (PMCs)-the global equivalent to ground observer's noctilucent (NLCs). PMCs are ice that occur summer at altitudes typically between 81 86 km, poleward 50 degrees latitude. PMSEs strong backscattered signals from region, recorded largely, although not exclusively, by VHF radars, most often latitude 82 88 km. The major areas research within this involve understanding numerically modeling dynamical, thermal, chemical related mesosphere; microphysical MCs; determining scattering, composition, shape particles; resolving sources condensation nuclei; performing laboratory experiments relevant reactions constituents PMC PMSE behavior, properties conditions PMC, PMSE, making rocket, satellite, ground-based radar lidar measurements.
