摘要: PURPOSE To assess the effectiveness of self-expanding, cobalt-alloy stents in treatment aneurysms a canine model and to observe pattern blood flow formation fibrotic scar tissue. METHODS Porous metallic were endovascularly placed across necks experimentally created side carotid arteries three dogs; also opposite these animals serve as controls. RESULTS Before stent placement, angiography demonstrated whirl-like, vortex within lumens aneurysms. Inflow was seen along distal aneurysm wall; outflow proximal slower present central lumen. Immediately after placement there disruption usual with stasis contrast media patterns no longer seen. Complete ablation evident at follow-up angiographic studies--1 week, 1 month, 2 months placement. The stented remained widely patent; control patent unchanged. Histopathologic analysis revealed reactive tissue completely filling pouches. CONCLUSION Treatment selected intracranial via an endovascular approach has merit could supplant more invasive, risky, costly surgical procedures some cases.
