Engagement in elderly persons with dementia attending animal-assisted group activity

摘要: The need for meaningful activities that enhance engagement is very important among persons with dementia (PWDs), both PWDs still living at home, as well admitted to a nursing home (NH). In this study, we systematically registered behaviours related in group animal-assisted activity (AAA) intervention 21 NHs and 28 home-dwelling attending day care centre. participants interacted dog its handler 30 minutes, twice week 12 weeks. Video-recordings were carried out early (week 2) late 10) during the period categorized by use of an ethogram. AAA seems create PWDs, might be suitable health promoting NH residents Degree should considered when planning individual or based AAA.
