Coming home: A prospective study of family reintegration following deployment to a war zone.

摘要: Abstract : The consequences of deployment extend beyond the service member to impact entire family. current investigation evaluated unique challenges family reintegration for partnered members using a prospective design. In total, 76 who deployed on year-long, high-risk mission Iraq were assessed across entirety cycle, i.e., pre-, during, and postdeployment. At follow-up, nearly 1 in 5 reported moderate severe difficulties multiple aspects reintegration. Prospective interpersonal indicators such as preparations couple, shared commitment military, Predeployment relationship distress predicted postdeployment difficulties. Significant risk factors medium large their effect sizes. Airmen's willingness disclose deployment- combat-related experiences, served concurrent correlates with Intrapersonal factors, including posttraumatic stress symptoms alcohol misuse concurrently related reintegration; also subsequent Additional analyses indicated that pre- distress, combat disclosure, each contributed when controlling other intra- factors. Implications prevention early intervention strategies well future research are discussed.
