摘要: A new compact silicon grating coupler enabling fibre-to-chip light coupling at a minimized taper length is proposed. The proposed coupler, which incorporates hollow tapered waveguide, converts the spot-size of optical modes from micro- to nano-scales by reducing lateral dimension 15 µm 300 nm equals 60 µm. incorporation such in photonic integrated circuit causes physical footprint as small 81 µm × 15 µm with efficiency and 3-dB bandwidth high 72% 69 nm respectively.
