摘要: The discipline of classical archaeology provides a fertile environment for the application diverse array methodological and practical tactics from zooarchaeology. Moreover, this dynamic is reciprocal, with contributions zooarchaeology variously affecting questions asked trajectories pursued within archaeology. This paper reviews relationship between these two fields how garnered developments in zooarchaeological method practice are reshaping refining our knowledge animals factored world antiquity. Attention focuses on several key issues: (1) input to complicated debate centering upon “sacred” “secular” reasons behind why meat was consumed Greek antiquity, particular focus value enhanced recovery techniques greater taphonomic understanding; (2) interrelationships ancient textual, iconographic, sets information livestock “breed” diversity antiquity; (3) advancements practice, including isotopic research, that refashioning directions as whole.
