Reflective lc devices including thin film metal grating

摘要: A sub-wavelength thin-film metal grating is placed inside a liquid crystal variable optical retarder at selected distance from reflective electrode to form half wave plate, thereby reducing polarization dependence of the retardation generated by retarder. The approach enables within device plate that suitably thin without modifying device.
