Scope and Sustainability of Cooperation in Transboundary Water Sharing of the Volta River

摘要: The paper explores the scope and sustainability of a self-enforcing cooperative agreement in framework game theoretic model, where upstream downstream country, Burkina Faso Ghana respectively Volta River Basin, bargain over level water abstraction upstream. In model we consider case Ghana, offers discounted price for energy export to Faso, restrict its rate examines benefits such arrangements between given stochastic uncertainty river flow. findings suggest that at present condition, marginal benefit from increasing is much higher than Ghana’s loss. However, finds if both countries’ rates are level, then loss increases phenomenally similar increase by Faso. Under circumstances, there an opportunity provide side payments terms power order motivate abstraction.
