摘要: Abstract The performance characteristics of an inert membrane reactor with catalyst on the feed side (IMRCF), a catalytic (CMR), and fixed-bed (FBR) are compared for uniform Dirac-type distributions case first-order reversible reaction under isothermal conditions. It is demonstrated that all three types, Dirac delta distribution catalyst, located at external surface (feed side) in either (CMR) or pellet (IMRCF FBR) gives superior as to uniformly distributed case. In addition, IMRCF, arbitrary number reactions following kinetics steady-state nonisothermal conditions, finite mass heat transfer resistances both membrane, considered. shown analytically realistic where local loading bounded, optimal general multiple step function. As bound increases, function approaches distribution. Novel preparation techniques supported thin metal composite membranes IMRCF applications inorganic nonuniform CMRs also described. first technique employs electroless plating along osmotic pressure yield controlled microstructure, porosity thickness. silver films deposited commercial alumina presented example. Heat treatment oxygen demonstrates Ag/alumina thus prepared thermally more stable than similar using standard procedures. second technique, sequential slip-casting platinum impregnated sols, precise control layer thickness location within obtained.
