摘要: We developed and tested ocular inserts containing epidermal growth factor (EGF) for a causal treatment of keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS). The inserts, consisting different alginates with hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) as lubricant release modifier, released EGF over time periods ranging from few hours up to several days. stability was high, having protein half-life approximately 548 A clinical pilot study suggests an amelioration both the main symptoms objective criteria: tear film break-up (BUT) lissamine green score. Our results show that KCS is highly promising.
