摘要: ABSTRACT Background Clear cell renal carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common histological subtype of carcinoma. In patients with ccRCC several prognostic markers have been suggested, enclosing epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expression and chromosome 7 polysomy (C7p). Cancer cells addicted to EGFR bear activated mutations in gene, these are useful predicting susceptibility inhibitors. The aim this study was evaluate value overexpression C7p. Patients methods Archival specimens, coupled clinical survival data 34 (20 men, 14 women, median age 58, range 42–79 years) who had undergone radical nephrectomy for were analyzed. Immunohistochemistry fluorescence situ hybridization (FISH) specimens sections formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue. detected as membranous cytoplasmic staining neoplastic cells > 1%, a ratio between gene/centromeric signals more than two considered indicate gene amplification. Mean number centromeric per nucleus also scored log-rank test used examine relationship gender, overexpression, C7p survival. Kaplan-Meyer analysis performed compare parameters Results did not differ significantly (p = 0.79) men women. Overall, 46 months (range 5-150 months). observed 21 (61.8%) cases. showed (p = 0.01) shorter among respect We find any (p = 0.32) or (p = 0.51) while (p = 0.02) correlated Similarly, no correlation found (Cox's regression) (R = 0.41, p = 0.21), gender (R = 0.87, p Conclusions our preliminary study, women an overall better men. predictor outcome, may significance.
