摘要: Abstract In the present in vitro study, we investigated duration of action and antibacterial effects nonautologous fibrin glue (FG) combined with antibiotics (Abs) including Ciprofloxacin, Teicoplanin, Cefoxitin, Gentamicin; effect FG alone on bacterial growth was also evaluated. The rate Ab diffusion from FG-Ab clots evaluated by separate elution pooled human serum (HS) normal saline (NS); supernatants were removed daily assayed for active concentrations each Ab. inoculating brain-heart infusion (BHI) Staphylococcus aureus, followed addition or clots; a set studies performed mouse lung homogenate (MLH) as well. to resulted continuous into surrounding HS NS up 5 7 days; however, more than two-thirds diffused out within 2 3 days regardless used. FG-Ciprofloxacin FG-Teicoplanin significant compared those not containing addition, presence (in BHI) reduction that BHI alone. MLH increased growth, but this inhibited clots. conclusion: (1) variety Abs can be resulting vitro, (2) inhibits S. aureus vitro. Potential applications mixtures include sealing gastrointestinal, vascular, tracheobronchial anastomoses, establishment hemostasis potentially contaminated infected wounds.
