摘要: To evaluate the consequences of dysplasia in Barrett's esophagus, six patients with esophageal mucosal biopsies showing dysplastic mucosa absence clinically evident carcinoma were identified and their clinicopathologic features reviewed. The patients, four men two women, averaged 60 years had long histories gastroesophageal reflux. Four high-grade dysplasia; low-grade. Dysplastic appeared to arise most commonly from specialized-type mucosa. After a mean follow-up 29 months, all dysplasia, resections. Three found have invasive adenocarcinoma, which extended through wall patients. fourth patient noninvasive adenomatous polyp ("Barrett's adenoma"), an infrequently described form esophagus. low-grade developed no clinical indications carcinoma. results confirm that mucosa, particularly high grade, is morphologic marker for adenocarcinoma. Biopsy surveillance esophagus histologically feasible, but prospective studies are required prove its effectiveness.
