Rare Tumors in Children: Progress Through Collaboration

摘要: Rare pediatric tumors account for approximately 10% of all childhood cancers, which in themselves are a rare entity. The diverse histologies and clinical behaviors pose challenges to the investigation their biologic features. National international cooperative groups such as Tumor Committee Children's Oncology Group, Tumors Pediatric Age Project, European Cooperative Study Group have developed several initiatives advance knowledge about cancers. However, these programs been only partially effective, necessitating development alternative mechanisms study challenging diseases. In this article, we review current national collaborative strategies cancers methods under exploration enhance those efforts, independent registries disease-specific, Cancer Institute–sponsored clinics.
