Supervoltage Irradiation in the Management of Giant Cell Tumor of Bone

摘要: Thirteen patients with giant cell tumor of bone were treated megavoltage irradiation from 1958 to 1972. Nine cases believed be true tumors cone. The only patient recurrence following a geographic miss was salvaged surgically. Curative therapy for may 3500 rads in 15 fractions 3 weeks; it is well tolerated minimal morbidity. Special care must used interpretation the post-therapy radiologic appearance these lesions because an initial period osteolysis lasts many weeks before any radiographic indication healing by recalcification occurs.
