The drug ketamine: a double edged sword for mental health professionals

摘要: AbstractKetamine was developed in the late 1950s as a potential general anesthetic agent. However, soon it became drug of abuse due to its property giving “high”. Ever since there have been no systematic studies ketamine abuse, dependence or withdrawal states humans, barring some anecdotal case reports. Recently researchers shown interest novel agent for treatment depression. most research does not shed light on addiction potential. In this paper, we present with interesting phenomenology, symptoms which responded well naltrexone. Implications such cases health professionals particularly psychiatrists and specialists is discussed.
