摘要: Abstract It has been suggested that performing a physical action (enactment) is an optimally effective encoding task, due to the incorporation of motoric information in episodic memory trace, and later retrieval information. The current study contrasts old/new recognition objects after enactment conceptual task cost estimation. Both tasks yielded high accuracy, robust differences brain activity as compared new objects, but no between tasks. These results are not supportive idea by leads spontaneous When participants were asked discriminate two classes studied during source perform-encoded elicited higher accuracy different than cost-encoded objects. extent nature what was retrieved from thus depended on its utility for assigned test: object test, additional about when necessary test. Event-related potentials (ERPs) recorded tests showed orthogonal effects early (300–800 msec) time window: differentiation unstudied test-type (retrieval orientation) effect equivalent old Later (800–1300 msec) differentiated perform- only suggesting temporally distinct phases retrieval.
