摘要: To further investigate the regulatory mechanisms responsible for control of testicular inhibin/activin subunit gene expression, inhibin-α, -βA, and -βB messenger RNA (mRNA) levels were assessed after ethylene dimethane sulfonate (EDS)-induced destruction Leydig cells (LC) in different animal models: intact rat, rat treated with high doses testosterone, unilaterally cryptorchid rat. In rats, EDS selectively eliminates mature adult-type LCs, activating proliferation differentiation preexisting LC precursors into a new population functionally active LCs. this model, single dose (75 mg/kg BW, ip) induced significant increase inhibin-α mRNA 5 days treatment (5.0- 5.5-fold increases, respectively), whereas inhibin-βA remained undetectable upon Northern hybridization EDS-treated testes.
