摘要: Recently it has been estimated that the annual cost of diseases caused by waterborne pathogens Legionella pneumonia, Mycobacterium avium, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa is $500 million. For period 2001–2012, hospital admissions for nontuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary disease, majority M. was almost $1 billion. These three opportunistic are normal inhabitants drinking water—not contaminants—that share a number key characteristics predispose them to survival, persistence, growth in water distribution systems premise plumbing. Herein, I list describe these shared include: disinfectant-resistance, biofilm-formation, amoebae, at low organic carbon concentrations (oligotrophic), under conditions stagnation. This review intended increase awareness OPPPs, identify emerging challenge industry develop novel approaches toward their control.
