Reduction of Titania-Ferrous Ore by Carbon Monoxide

摘要: The reduction of titania-ferrous ore (ironsand) containing 57.2 wt% iron and 7-8wt% TO 2 was investigated in non-isothermal isothermal experiments using CO-CO -Ar gas mixtures a laboratory fixed bed reactor. Samples the course were characterised XRD, EPMA SEM. Two types particles identified ironsand: 1) homogeneous titano-magnetite with cubic spinel structure (a major type); 2) non-homogeneous particles, by lamellar rhombohedral titano-hematite, exsoluted from titano-magnetite. Titano-magnetite, which is magnetite-ulvospinel solid solution (Fe 3 O ) 1-x TiO 4 x , x=0.27±0.02, reduced to metallic titanium sub-oxides. Titanium had strong effect on mechanism rate oxide ironsand.
