Pyrimethamine resistance in Plasmodium vivax malaria.

摘要: P. vivax infection (Korean, St Elizabeth or Chesson strain) was induced in 17 neurosyphilitic patients. Pyrimethamine single doses of either 25, 50, 100 200 mg given to test the schizontocidal and sporontocidal effects.The first single-dose treatment 25 between 8th 61st days parasite patency gave moderately rapid very effects. All observed cases relapsed.The second treatment, usually three weeks longer after with same higher doses, had a diminished effect none on schizogonous sporogonous cycles. Subsequent even at weekly intervals, no effect.The resistant quality undiminished subsequent infections transmitted by mosquito bites, injection preserved sporozoites, transfusion infected blood. Preserving sporozoites erythrocytic parasites low temperatures did not materially affect quality.In view evidence presented, it appears that resistance could also occur field when large pyrimethamine alone are less than monthly intervals febrile persons having active infections.
